5 Priorities to Ensure Success Going Forward

Like you, I am reading everything about the recent career shift going on called, the Great Resignation. As we navigate through these times and reset our goals to prepare for your future, I would like to share five things that each of us should focus on to ensure success. The points are from my first-hand experience from helping independent business owners make the transition from employee to an entrepreneur achieving success (I shared a photo of some that have joined me on this journey).

1. Identify your ideal client

Who are your best clients today? How do they find you? How do you find more clients just like them? What organizations and events do they participate in? You should also partner with others (allied resources / strategic partners) that are calling on these same clients.

2. Clearly articulate your value proposition

What challenge or need does the client have? Why should they engage with you? How will you solve their challenge and make their life better?

Make sure you can clearly describe how your product or service will help your client achieve their desired outcome.

3. Build your database
This is the time to build a foundation of your business and keys to success, your database. Your contacts and relationships are critical to your success. They should be well organized and have a plan to be consistent in your communication with them.

  • Current Clients
  • Potential Clients
  • Allied Resources – everyone that can generate referrals for you

4. Develop and grow your relationships

Do your clients, prospective clients and allied resources really know what you do? Do they fully understand the value that you offer? It is time to build strong relationships, so you become their trusted resource to go to for all things related to your industry.

5. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people

We need to protect another key to our success, our attitude, by ensuring we are around and engaged with positive influences. We do not have time for the negative noise that is running 24/7 and negative people. We need to actively seek out positive people and positive resources (podcasts, books, training).

There are more, but I strive to keep things simple, and these are my Top 5. I hope these tips and questions to make you think differently will help as you plan for success going forward. This is not the time to have a long ‘To Do List.’ Your ‘A’ list of priorities can be short to keep you focused on the key items that will help you achieve your goals.
