How Are you Doing? ‘Truth Be Told’

The truth be told…How are you doing? How are the people around you doing? As conditions continue to go up and down and we adapt to living with this health challenge, I am urging my team members to reach out and engage with family, friends, others on our team and within our company, customers, and partners. We did an excellent job of thinking about and checking in with each other over the past two years, and we need to continue making sure people are fine.

Our engagement needs to demonstrate that we care and be more than the quick comment in passing, how are you doing? We need to truly mean it and be concerned for others. I am sharing below some of the lyrics from the song, ‘Truth Be Told’ by Matthew West:

Lie number one: You’re supposed to have it all together

And when they ask how you’re doin’, just smile and tell them, “Never better”

Lie number two: Everybody’s life is perfect except yours

So, keep your messes and your wounds and your secrets safe with you behind closed doors

But truth be told

The truth is rarely told, no…

I say, “I’m fine, yeah, I’m fine, oh, I’m fine, hey, I’m fine”

But I’m not, I’m broken

We learned valuable lessons and have takeaways from the past few years. It was reinforced that face-to-face interaction with others is important, and relationships are the key to a happy and productive life. Let’s make sure those in our life and those we engage with daily are fine (really fine…not just saying they are fine). My challenge for you, reach out to three people each week for the next month to have a meaningful conversation on how they are doing. I am confident that this exercise will make the other person’s day, and yours as well.

The truth be told…we will be fine if we check in and take care of one another.
