Getting Through Challenging Times in the Hospitality Industry

The challenges of the past weeks throughout the world and specifically in the hospitality industry, have proven to be unlike any we have ever seen. One of the members of my team, Brian Chisolm, shared this message with his clients, our partners and our team.

Our response to these challenges is to govern ourselves by the same principles we strive for daily. These principles will continue through this crisis and after it is long gone.

Caring, Gratitude, and Willingness

Caring will allow us to continue uplifting and supporting one another in such a time. It will allow us to be considerate in ways that will relieve some of the tension of our current circumstances. We are social creatures by nature. Caring, even when the circumstances minimize our ability to feed the basic elements of who we are, allows us to hold onto a part of ourselves which is unchanging.

Gratitude allows us to keep our current partnerships, friendships, and connections healthy by being thankful. It also helps us to open doors for new and meaningful associations considering the challenges we face. Gratitude has proven to aid our mental strength in keeping our minds focused on the abundance of what we have, as opposed to what we do not.

Willingness allows us to remain dynamically prepared. We like to always be ready to take positive action in any way we can to support the healthy minds and perspectives which will assist us through this situation (and any others for that matter).

These basic principles, in conjunction with adopting the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health authorities, allows us all to be encouraged and uplifted in such times.

Being a part of a team or having a small support group during this time is critical to your personal and professional well-being and success. Our team has focused on building a culture that enables a passionate, driven team that serves each other and others with integrity to create a better life for our clients and ourselves.

I am blessed having team members, like Brian, who are sharing these positive messages when we need them most. As a team, our goal is to do more than survive, we plan to thrive when our industry comes roaring back.

Keep safe, healthy and positive. As a nation and as an industry, we will get through this together.
