Is now the right time for you to make a career change within the hospitality industry? Do you have someone that will guide you through the process on how to successfully make the transition?
I am again reading the book, “An Attitude of Excellence” by Willie Jolley. The book was written during our last recession and his message to all of us then still applies; at the time of his writing the book, he knew a recession was going on, but he chose not to participate. I think his message to all of us would be similar today. The following is an excerpt from his book.
One of the biggest challenges to success is to overcome the enemy within. We must overcome the enemy we see in the mirror every day. Michael Jackson had a popular song called “Man in the Mirror”, where he sang:
I’m gonna make a change, for once in my life
I’m gonna feel real good, Gonna make it right…
I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
If we are going to be the best we can be, we must start with the person we see in the mirror…we must start with ourselves. We must be willing to change our ways and make a commitment to get better and to grow, personally and professionally. And to change we must have the courage to be honest with ourselves. We must be willing to confront our self-limiting beliefs and the behaviors that keep us from living our best lives.
Obviously, our current situation is even worse than the last recession. Once again, I believe we need to embrace Willie’s philosophy to not participate in the negative thoughts about our futures. We can control how we respond, and we need to choose not to let all the negatives bring us down and stay positive. We will rise again and if you are ready to make a change…I can guide you on how to do it! Email me directly
