Business Development: Achieve Success by Doing What Most People Don’t

As a sales leader of top producing teams focused on new business development within the hospitality industry, I am often asked why some are successful and others struggle to achieve their potential. Simply put, the achievers are consistently doing what others are not. This is the message of Bart Berkey’s company, Most People Don’t. There are people that choose to act…and those that do not. While serving as a recruiter for Ritz-Carlton, Bart noticed that the candidates that “did” were the ones who received job offers. The individuals that “did” achieved better results. Those that “did” had more success.

First, let me share my response based on the teams I have led over the past 15 years. Those that achieve success have the following:

    1. Know their why (purpose)
They stay focused on their true north.
    2. Always stay positive
They can be thrown challenges, like the past year. Our response will determine our success. As David Riederman says, “This happened for us and not to us.”
    3. Engage a guide
They know they will need help on their success journey and engage mentors, coaches, and accountability buddies to ensure they achieve their goals.
    4. Have a plan / take action
Like having a map for your journey, they have a plan and follow it. Also, they are acting each day to build momentum.
    5. Give back
Whether it is time, expertise, or financial, they are giving back to help those that need it most.

Bart’s message is powerful anytime…especially now. While it is “easy to be” it is “better to become.” There are many things that we know we should do, but never do. His “Most People Don’t” tool and philosophy help to encourage improvements and enhancements to individual behaviors. Below is more about Bart and his company:

Top 5 Differentiators for Bart Berkey (Most People Don’t):

    1. Trademarked “Most People Don’t” that is scientifically and psychologically proven to encourage improved behaviors in others.
    2. Motivational Storyteller that pulls real life situations that are customized for each audience and creates memorable analogies so that the messages are easy to remember and apply.
    3. Former Ritz-Carlton recruiter and Global Sales Executive that has observed success (personally and professionally) created by those that go “above and beyond” and “do”.
    4. Authentic, warm, and engaging with a sincere desire to help others.  No hidden agendas, no political stance, just heartful stories designed to “move the souls” of others into happiness and fulfillment.
    5. Award-winning (“Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales & Marketing”) author (“Most People Don’t…And Why You Should) whose book resides in the top 1% of book sales on Amazon.

I have been engaging Bart to train and motivate my teams and encourage you to do the same. It is an investment with an amazing ROI. Success is a journey, and we need others to assist us along the way. You can find him at: (www.bartaberkey.com)
