9 Tips to Grow Your Business

As we strive to build and maintain successful businesses (even during challenging times). Here are some tips I have gathered from 15+ years of leading entrepreneurial teams. These tips will help build the momentum needed to start fast and finish strong.

  1. Know your why (purpose)
    • Always stay focused on your true north, which will get you through both challenging and good times.
  1. Engage a guide
    • You will need help on your success journey, so engage mentors, coaches, and accountability buddies to ensure you achieve your goals
  1. Establish yourself as an expert
    • Focus on your expertise. Based on your experience, you are the expert in_____. Share this with your network.
  1. Expand your Network – Your net worth is a direct result of your network
    • Maintain a database (preferable in a CRM) of your entire network
  1. Spread the word!
    • Stay in contact with all your contacts (personal and professional). Put them into your CRM and stay in touch!
    • Connect with your ideal customers. Let them know that you are here to assist in any way you can.
    • Contact your industry vendors/partners: Create a Win-Win situation. You WIN by getting a client and they WIN by getting a referral fee
    • Post valuable content on social media
    • Make sure that all your websites, social media pages, and profiles are up to date (including your photo).
    • Call past clients / and those who did not choose to use your services in the past
    • Send out newsletters, etc. with relevant industry updates (Sharing your expertise)
  1. Stay in touch and secure your current client relationship.
    • Establish an account management plan that both ensures you exceed the needs of your clients and prevents your competitors from taking the account.
  1. Use all communication methods – don’t rely on email to communicate. Be different and…
    1. Make phone calls
    2. Schedule face to face meetings
    3. Send handwritten notes
  1. Understand and utilize technology
    • Use free tools like Zoom (or others) to make customer presentations or to host a webinar on your expertise.
    • Stay up-to-date and embrace technologies.
  1. Give back
    • Whether it is time, expertise, or financial, give back to help those that need it most.
