We have learned over the past few years how much we value our time and relationships. We need to balance our personal and professional lives. Yes…this is possible in the hospitality industry. Based on my experience of helping people make the transition, I want to share some tips for how you can go from employee to an independent business owner so you can achieve your objective.

- Use your experience / expertise
a. What do you have expertise in?
b. How will your experience transition to a new opportunity? - Establish a game plan (earnings needed, timeline and definition of success)
a. What are you going to have to do and what are you going to have to sacrifice to achieve your goal?
b. Prepare a financial plan - Use your network / relationships to jump start your new business – surrounding yourself with a support group
a. Family, friends
b. Coach, Mentors - Act on your plan

b. Be persistent putting in the effort every day
